Re-license almost all of libVLC and libVLCcore to LGPLv2.1+
This move was authorized by the developers, either:
- by e-mail,
- by vote at the VideoLAN Dev Days 2011,
- on the license website,
- in a contract, oral or written.

It is possible, that some minor piece of code was badly tracked, for
some reasons (SVN, mainly) or that some small developers did not answer.
However, as an "œuvre collective", defined as in "CPI 113-2 alinéa 3",
and seeing "Cour. Cass. 17 Mai 1978", and seeing that the editor and
the very vast majority of developers have agreed (> 99.99% of the code,
> 99% of developers), we are fine here.
For VoD, the synchronization is bad, but accurate synchronization would
require at least changes in the core to add support for some kind of
"instant pausing" to the stream output. Synchronous calls to the VLM
shouldn't cause delay problems, no operation waits for the input.
* libvlc sources and plugins now define __LIBVLC__ and headers exported to
plugins (ie, include/vlc_*.h) check for this
* libvlc sources use the value of the "libvlc" component in vlc-config instead
of vlc
* Apply flags directly to "libvlc" in configure.ac - might temporarily break win32 :)
* added i_channel and i_content properties to subpicture_t
* p_last_osd_message is no more used
An OSD channel can contain simultaneously an OSD text and an OSD widget.

modules/codec/spudec/*: when iconv is available, use it to convert textual subtitles from the encoding given by --sub-encoding to utf8. Use new code to render subtitles

modules/misc/dummy/*: added a "text renderer" submodule in the dummy module
src/misc/modules.c: included osd.h as it seems to be needed to export symbols
final notes: you need to give a proper value to --freetype-font. This should be the path to a font file freetype2 can handle (almost any format afaik) with a unicode translation table in it. Windows ttf files will do. In linux at least openoffice distributes some fonts that work. I think macosx and beos also has useable fonts.
render text on the video
include/osd.h: some constants useful when interfacing with the osd module
configure.ac.in: check for freetype2, enabled the osdtext module by default
Makefile.am: added osd.h, please check that this is correct
lirc.c: modified to provide feedback when buttons are pressed.
Look at the Feedback() function in lirc.c to see how this module can be used
As for video output 4, this breaks almost everything, but I'll slowly
do what remains to be fixed during the weekend.
Changes in vlc:
===============
* vlc is now a very small program (20 lines) which uses the libvlc API;
it is quite simple for the moment but can be extended in the future.
* interfaces, decoders, video outputs, etc. are now almost the same
objects (yes, I know, this is C++ redone in C) and are structured in
a tree. More about this later, but basically it allows the following
nice features:
- several interfaces
- several playlists with several outputs
- input plugins spawning helper interfaces (will be used for DVD menus)
- anything spawning anything; I swear there are useful uses for this!
* libvlc can be used in other programs; I'm currently writing a Mozilla
plugin for my employer.
Things currently broken:
========================
* most interfaces, most ports
* the playlist handling (almost finished rewriting this though). This means
no file can be played from the GUI, you need to use the commandline. This
also means it segfaults at EOF, when exiting the program, and it sometimes
refuses to open a file when asked to.
*added a b_stopped flag to interface playlist to have a stop function in
interface plugins. As a consequence, the playlist no longer loops on end
but wait for the user to press 'play' or to add another item (gtk/gnome
interface). I think that other plugins are broken but it shouldn't be
difficult to repair: just add a 'p_main->p_playlist->b_stopped = 0' in
play functions and 'p_main->p_playlist->b_stopped = 1' when you have to
stop.
*Updated gtk interface so that it has the same features as gnome. I
think I will merge the code so that we don't have to copy and paste each
change. Only the .glade file would be different.
related file with 100% reliability (great change that should make DVDs
with binaries and extra stuff work with vlc).
-Correction of a bug in ifo reading that falsified the adress of
video titles.
-Changed the method for selecting title at start. It is _not_ reliable
though, but it is better than the preceding one.

. apr�s le demoronifier, le GPLifier: il y a les ent�tes de la GPL dans
chaque fichier ; votre mission, si vous l'acceptez, est de mettre votre
nom dans chaque fichier qui est votre oeuvre ou auquel vous avez
particip�, pour qu'on sache qui a fait quoi. Pas de fausse modestie,
c'est plus pour des raisons pratiques que pour la gloire.

Bon ben voila, j'ai commence a bouger les .h comme je voulais le faire...
C'est encore un peu le bordel et j'en suis desole. Mais je compte bien
deplacer des trucs jusqu'a ce que ca soit a nouveau bien range :)
D�sol� pour le flood. Les en-t�tes de fonctions ne font plus 81
caract�res, et il n'y a plus d'espaces inutiles, Tous les trailing
spaces ont disparu, j'ai essay� de v�rifier que �a ne p�tait rien,
mais j'ai pu oublier un truc con. J'accepte tous types de ch�timents
� base d'orties fra�ches.
D�sol� d'avoir aussi modifi� les fichiers de ceux qui formataient
bien proprement leurs en-t�tes � 80 et pas 79 sans emb�ter personne,
mais j'ai d� choisir entre les deux.
Dor�navant ce serait bien de formater les en-t�tes et les commentaires
justifi�s � droite � 79 colonnes, ou au pire � 80.
