This command has been deprecated before the 8.1 release,
in commit e9ccfdd91d ("hmp: Add 'one-insn-per-tb' command
equivalent to 'singlestep'"). Time to drop it.

The command always fails with "Error: Parameter 'xbzrle_cache_size'
expects a power of two no less than the target page size". The test
passes anyway. Change the argument from 1 to 64k to make the test a
bit more useful.

docs/multi-thread-compression.txt uses parameter names with
underscores instead of dashes. Wrong since day one.
docs/rdma.txt, tests/qemu-iotests/181, and tests/qtest/test-hmp.c are
wrong the same way since commit cbde7be900 (v6.0.0). Hard to see,
as test-hmp doesn't check whether the commands work, and iotest 181
appears to be unaffected.

The 'singlestep' HMP command is confusing, because it doesn't
actually have anything to do with single-stepping the CPU. What it
does do is force TCG emulation to put one guest instruction in each
TB, which can be useful in some situations.
Create a new HMP command 'one-insn-per-tb', so we can document that
'singlestep' is just a deprecated synonym for it, and eventually
perhaps drop it.
We aren't obliged to do deprecate-and-drop for HMP commands,
but it's easy enough to do so, so we do.

Running the test-hmp with V=2 up to V=9 runs the test in verbose mode,
but running for example with V=10 falls back to non-verbose mode ...
Improve this oddity by properly treating the argument as a number.

The generic 'migrate_set_parameters' command handle all types of param.
Only the QMP commands were documented in the deprecations page, but the
rationale for deprecating applies equally to HMP, and the replacements
exist. Furthermore the HMP commands are just shims to the QMP commands,
so removing the latter breaks the former unless they get re-implemented.

These were deprecated since 4.0, remove both HMP and QMP variants.
Users should use device_add command instead. To get list of
possible CPUs and options, use 'info hotpluggable-cpus' HMP
or query-hotpluggable-cpus QMP command.

With QEMU 4.0 an incompatible change was added to pc_piix, which makes it
practical impossible to migrate domUs started with qemu2 or qemu3 to
newer qemu versions. Commit 7fccf2a068
added and enabled a new member "smbus_no_migration_support". In commit
4ab2f2a8aa the vmstate_acpi got new
elements, which are conditionally filled. As a result, an incoming
migration expected smbus related data unless smbus migration was
disabled for a given MachineClass. Since first commit forgot to handle
'xenfv', domUs started with QEMU 4.x are incompatible with their QEMU
siblings.
Using other existing machine types, such as 'pc-i440fx-3.1', is not
possible because 'xenfv' creates the 'xen-platform' PCI device at
00:02.0, while all other variants to run a domU would create it at
00:04.0.
To cover both the existing and the broken case of 'xenfv' in a single
qemu binary, a new compatibility variant of 'xenfv-4.2' must be added
which targets domUs started with qemu 4.2. The existing 'xenfv' restores
compatibility of QEMU 5.x with qemu 3.1.
Host admins who started domUs with QEMU 4.x (preferrable QEMU 4.2)
have to use a wrapper script which appends '-machine xenfv-4.2' to
the device-model command line. This is only required if there is no
maintenance window which allows to temporary shutdown the domU and
restart it with a fixed device-model.
The wrapper script is as simple as this:

With xl this script will be enabled with device_model_override=, see
xl.cfg(5). To live migrate a domU, adjust the existing domU.cfg and pass
it to xl migrate or xl save/restore:

xl save domU CheckpointFile new-domU.cfg
xl restore new-domU.cfg CheckpointFile
With libvirt this script will be enabled with the <emulator> element in
domU.xml. Use 'virsh edit' prior 'virsh migrate' to replace the existing
<emulator> element to point it to the wrapper script.

drive_new() returns null without setting an error when it provided
help. add_init_drive() assumes null means failure, and crashes trying
to report a null error.

The tests that check something for all machine types currently spend
a lot of time checking old machine types (like "pc-i440fx-2.0" for
example). The chances that we find something new there in addition
to checking the latest version of a machine type are pretty low, so
we should not waste the time of the developers by testing this again
and again in the "quick" testing mode.
Thus let's add some code to determine whether we are testing a current
machine type or an old one, and only test the old types if we are
running in "SPEED=slow" mode.
This decreases the testing time quite a bit now, e.g. the qom-test
now finishes within 4 seconds for qemu-system-x86_64 instead of 30
seconds when testing all machines.

They are deprecated since QEMU v2.10, and so far nobody complained that
these commands are still necessary for any reason - and since you can use
'netdev_add' and 'netdev_remove' instead, there also should not be any
real reason. Since they are also standing in the way for the upcoming
'vlan' clean-up, it's now time to remove them.

Provide HMP monitor command execution result as it would be seen
by user who established an HMP monitor session.
Currently many commands may silently fail without any sign of that.
This patch let this info to be printed once test is running in
verbose mode.
For the future it might be useful to fail the test if command has
failed, however it would require a bit of rework inside test
engine itself.
A simple example of silent failure without reporting it would to
add some non-existent HMP command into 'hmp_cmds' list. In this case
test will report it successfully passed without error.

hmp() passes its string argument through the sprintf() family;
with a proper attribute, gcc -Wformat warns us when we do something
dangerous like passing a non-constant format string. Fortunately,
all our strings were safe, but checking whether the string can
contain an unintended % is easy to avoid and therefore worth doing.

testchardev2 is not a valid chardev id here. Use testchardev1
instead which has been created with chardev-add right before
the 'chardev-send-break' line.

Sending a break on a serial console can be useful for debugging the
guest. But not all chardev backends support sending breaks (only telnet
and mux do). The chardev-send-break command allows to send a break even
if using other backends.

Use 'send a break' in all 3 pieces of text as suggested by eblake
HMP commands do not get any automatic testing yet, so on certain
QEMU machines, some HMP commands were causing crashes in the past.
Thus we should test HMP commands in our test suite, too, to avoid
that such problems creep in again in the future.
