Florian Weimer	659fe9fdd1	stdio-common: Introduce buffers for implementing printf These buffers will eventually be used instead of FILE * objects to implement printf functions. The multibyte buffer is struct __printf_buffer, the wide buffer is struct __wprintf_buffer. To enable writing type-generic code, the header files printf_buffer-char.h and printf_buffer-wchar_t.h define the Xprintf macro differently, enabling Xprintf (buffer) to stand for __printf_buffer and __wprintf_buffer as appropriate. For common cases, macros like Xprintf_buffer are provided as a more syntactically convenient shortcut. Buffer-specific flush callbacks are implemented with a switch statement instead of a function pointer, to avoid hardening issues similar to those of libio vtables. struct __printf_buffer_as_file is needed to support custom printf specifiers because the public interface for that requires passing a FILE , which is why there is a trapdoor back from these buffers to FILE streams. Since the immediate user of these interfaces knows when processing has finished, there is no flush callback for the end of processing, only a flush callback for the intermediate buffer flush. Adhemerval Zanella	32612615c5	elf: Issue la_symbind for bind-now (BZ #23734 ) The audit symbind callback is not called for binaries built with -Wl,-z,now or when LD_BIND_NOW=1 is used, nor the PLT tracking callbacks (plt_enter and plt_exit) since this would change the expected program semantics (where no PLT is expected) and would have performance implications (such as for BZ#15533). LAV_CURRENT is also bumped to indicate the audit ABI change (where la_symbind flags are set by the loader to indicate no possible PLT trace). To handle powerpc64 ELFv1 function descriptor, _dl_audit_symbind requires to know whether bind-now is used so the symbol value is updated to function text segment instead of the OPD (for lazy binding this is done by PPC64_LOAD_FUNCPTR on _dl_runtime_resolve). We have a single thread that runs a no-op initialization once and then repeatedly runs checks of the initialization (i.e., an acquire load and conditional jump) in a tight loop. This gives us, on average, the best-case latency of pthread_once (the initialization is the exactly-once slow path, and we're not looking at initialization-related synchronization overheads in this case).	13 years ago
Siddhesh Poyarekar	cb5e4aada7	Make bench.out in json format This patch changes the output format of the main benchmark output file (bench.out) to an extensible format. I chose JSON over XML because in addition to being extensible, it is also not too verbose. Additionally it has good support in python. The significant change I have made in terms of functionality is to put timing information as an attribute in JSON instead of a string and to do that, there is a separate program that prints out a JSON snippet mentioning the type of timing (hp_timing or clock_gettime). The mean timing has now changed from iterations per unit to actual timing per iteration.	12 years ago
