Florian Weimer	e92030239a	Assume that accept4 is always available and works Simplify the Linux accept4 implementation based on the assumption that it is available in some way. __ASSUME_ACCEPT4_SOCKETCALL was previously unused, so remove it. For ia64, the accept4 system call (and socket call) were backported in kernel version 3.2.18. Reflect this in the installation instructions.	9 years ago

Florian Weimer	c23de0aacb	support: Introduce new subdirectory for test infrastructure The new test driver in <support/test-driver.c> has feature parity with the old one. The main difference is that its hooking mechanism is based on functions and function pointers instead of macros. This commit also implements a new environment variable, TEST_COREDUMPS, which disables the code which disables coredumps (that is, it enables them if the invocation environment has not disabled them). <test-skeleton.c> defines wrapper functions so that it is possible to use existing macros with the new-style hook functionality. This commit changes only a few test cases to the new test driver, to make sure that it works as expected.	9 years ago

Rajalakshmi Srinivasaraghavan	41a359e22f	Add nextup and nextdown math functions TS 18661 adds nextup and nextdown functions alongside nextafter to provide support for float128 equivalent to it. This patch adds nextupl, nextup, nextupf, nextdownl, nextdown and nextdownf to libm before float128 support. The nextup functions return the next representable value in the direction of positive infinity and the nextdown functions return the next representable value in the direction of negative infinity. Stefan Liebler	4c01126896	S390: Implement mempcpy with help of memcpy. [BZ #19765 ] There exist optimized memcpy functions on s390, but no optimized mempcpy. This patch adds mempcpy entry points in memcpy.S files, which use the memcpy implementation. Now mempcpy itself is also an IFUNC function as memcpy is and the variants are listed in ifunc-impl-list.c. The s390 string.h does not define _HAVE_STRING_ARCH_mempcpy. Instead mempcpy string/string.h inlines memcpy() + n. If n is constant and small enough, GCC emits instructions like mvi or mvc and avoids the function call to memcpy. If n is not constant, then memcpy is called and n is added afterwards. If _HAVE_STRING_ARCH_mempcpy would be defined, mempcpy would be called in every case. According to PR70140 "Inefficient expansion of __builtin_mempcpy" (https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=70140) GCC should handle a call to mempcpy in the same way as memcpy. Then either the mempcpy macro in string/string.h has to be removed or _HAVE_STRING_ARCH_mempcpy has to be defined for S390. Adhemerval Zanella	1eb8930608	posix: execvpe cleanup This patch removes all the dynamic allocation on execvpe code and instead use direct stack allocation. This is QoI approach to make it possible use in scenarios where memory is shared with parent (vfork or clone with CLONE_VM). For default process spawn (script file without a shebang), stack allocation is bounded by NAME_MAX plus PATH_MAX plus 1. Large file arguments returns an error (ENAMETOOLONG). This differs than current GLIBC pratice in general, but it used to limit stack allocation for large inputs. Also, path in PATH environment variable larger than PATH_MAX are ignored. The shell direct execution exeception, where execve returns ENOEXEC, might requires a large stack allocation due large input argument list. Lu	16396c41de	Add _STRING_INLINE_unaligned and string_private.h As discussed in https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-10/msg00403.html the setting of _STRING_ARCH_unaligned currently controls the external GLIBC ABI as well as selecting the use of unaligned accesses withing GLIBC. Since _STRING_ARCH_unaligned was recently changed for AArch64, this would potentially break the ABI in GLIBC 2.23, so split the uses and add _STRING_INLINE_unaligned to select the string ABI. This setting must be fixed for each target, while _STRING_ARCH_unaligned may be changed from release to release. _STRING_ARCH_unaligned is used unconditionally in glibc. But <bits/string.h>, which defines _STRING_ARCH_unaligned, isn't included with -Os. Since _STRING_ARCH_unaligned is internal to glibc and may change between glibc releases, it should be made private to glibc. _STRING_ARCH_unaligned should defined in the new string_private.h heade file which is included unconditionally from internal <string.h> for glibc build. Adhemerval Zanella	96d6fd6c40	powerpc: Optimized st{r,p}cpy for POWER8/PPC64 This patch adds an optimized POWER8 strcpy using unaligned accesses. For strings up to 16 bytes the implementation first calculate the string size, like strlen, and issues a memcpy. For larger strings, source is first aligned to 16 bytes and then tested over a loop that reads 16 bytes am combine the cmpb results for speedup. Special case is added for page cross reads. It shows 30%-60% improvement over the optimized POWER7 one that uses only aligned accesses.	11 years ago

The idead default powerpc64 implementation is to provide both doubleword and word aligned memory access. For PPC64/POWER7 is also provide doubleword and word memory access, remove the branch hints, use the cmpb instruction for compare doubleword/words, and add an optimization for inputs of same alignment.	13 years ago
