Alan Modra	6785fd72d5	PE dos_message I was looking at dos_message and wondering why we have H_PUT_32 in _bfd_XXi_only_swap_filehdr_out but no H_GET_32 in pe_bfd_object_p. On a big-endian machine this would result in scrambling the code and strings constained in dos_message. Rather than fix the lack of H_GET_32 in pe_bfd_object_p, I decided it doesn't make sense to store dos_message internally as an array of ints. include/ * coff/internal.h (struct internal_extra_pe_filehdr): Make dos_message a char array. * coff/msdos.h (struct external_DOS_hdr): Flatten dos_message. * coff/pe.h (struct external_PEI_filehdr): Likewise. bfd/ * libcoff-in.h (struct pe_tdata): Make dos_message a char array. * libcoff.h: Regenerate. * peXXigen.c (_bfd_XXi_only_swap_filehdr_out): memcpy dos_message to output. * peicode.h (pe_mkobject): Don't memset already zeroed pe_opthdr. Alan Modra	478409b71d	AIX_WEAK_SUPPORT Making target code depend on a host define like _AIX52 is never correct, so out it goes. Also, sort some config.bfd entries a little to make it more obvious there is a config difference between aix5.1 and aix5.2. These two changes should make no difference to anything in binutils. The gas define of AIX_WEAK_SUPPORT on the other hand was wrong, so fix that. Finally, fix some testsuite fails on aix < 5.2 by simply not running the tests. include/ * coff/internal.h (C_WEAKEXT): Don't depend on _AIX52. bfd/ * coffcode.h (coff_slurp_symbol_table): Don't depend on _AIX52. Alan Modra	a2c7ca15a5	Use stdint types in coff internal_auxent long is a poor choice of type to store 32-bit values read from objects files by H_GET_32. H_GET_32 doesn't sign extend so tests like that in gdb/coffread.c for "negative" values won't work if long is larger than 32 bits. If long is 32-bit then code needs to be careful to not accidentally index negative array elements. (I'd rather see a segfault on an unmapped 4G array index than silently reading bogus data.) long is also a poor choice for x_sect.s_scnlen, which might have 64-bit values. It's better to use unsigned exact width types to avoid surprises. I decided to change the field names too, which makes most of this patch simply renaming. Besides that there are a few places where casts are no longer needed, and where printf format strings or tests need adjusting. include/ * coff/internal.h (union internal_auxent): Use unsigned stdint types. Alan Modra	6015985895	Replace bfd_hostptr_t with uintptr_t bfd_hostptr_t is defined as a type large enough to hold either a long or a pointer. It mostly appears in the coff backend code in casts. include/coff/internal.h struct internal_syment and union internal_auxent have the only uses in data structures, where comparison with include/coff/external.h and other code reveals that the type only needs to be large enough for a 32-bit integer or a pointer. That should mean replacing with uintptr_t is OK.	4 years ago

Clément Chigot	1b2cb8e2ee	aix: implement TLS relocation for gas and ld Add support for TLS in XCOFF. Amongst the things done by this commit: - Update XCOFF auxialiary header to match new version and allow TLS sections. - Add TLS sections (.tdata and .tbss) support in gas and ld. - Add support for the TLS relocations in gas and ld. Two different types BFD_RELOC are created for PPC and PPC64 as the size is a pointer, thus distinct in 32 or 64bit. The addresses given by ld to .tdata and .tbss is a bit special. In XCOFF, these addresses are actually offsets from the TLS pointer computed at runtime. AIX assembly and linker does the same. In top of that, the .tdata must be before .data (this is mandatory for AIX loader). Thus, the aix ld script is recomputing "." before .data to restore its original value. There might be a simpler way, but this one is working. Jan W. Jagersma	4d095f5b5e	coff-go32-exe: support variable-length stubs The stub size in GO32 executables has historically been fixed at 2048 bytes, due to hardcoded limitations in bfd. Recent patches to djgpp by Stas Sergeev (CC'd) have pushed the stub right up to this limit, so if any further expansion is desired, this must first be patched in bfd. This series includes three patches: The first changes the meaning of the bfd->origin field slightly, so that target code can use this to specify an offset into the file where the actual bfd is located. The second patch then uses this to enable support for variable-sized stubs in the coff-go32-exe format. The final patch is only a cleanup, it normalizes function and variable names in coff-stgo32.c so that they all begin with the same prefix. bfd * bfdio.c (bfd_bread, bfd_tell, bfd_seek, bfd_mmap): Always add bfd->origin to file offset. * bfdwin.c (bfd_get_file_window): Likewise. * bfd.c: Clarify the use of the bfd->origin field. * bfd-in2.h: Regenerate. * coff-i386.c: Don't include go32exe.h.
